Susan Atkins has been in the insurance industry for 26 years. Susan is the senior Commercial Property Underwriter in the home office and often represents her company at conferences and conventions. She plays an integral role in the operation of the Commercial Property Department.

Caron Paixao is a Regional Claims Manager. She has been in the insurance industry for over 30 years. She leads a local team of claims professionals handling Construction Defect claims nationwide. She also leads a team of experienced claims professionals located in Phoenix Arizona handling traditional property and casualty claims in the states of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Arizona. She serves on a cross functional management team, working with the Regional Marketing Manager and Regional Underwriting Manager to build business prospects in the Mountain West Region. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Gina is currently a Small Commercial Sales Manager for a Fortune 100 company, partnering with a territory of CA agencies on mutual growth. She began her insurance career right out of college in 2003, and has held positions in Personal Lines underwriting, Commercial Processing leadership, and various roles in Sales. She earned her MBA in 2007 and CPCU designation in 2016. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering for several non-profits, being a mom of active kids, and cheering on the Hokies!
Jeffery L. Thomas

Jeff Thomas is a Underwriting Director – Property. With over 34 years of experience, he has worked in several business units including Underwriting, Sales, Corporate Relations, Claims, Operations and Product Management. Jeff currently leads a team of project managers whose primary function is to lead strategy and deployment of enterprise initiatives that drive profitable property growth. Jeff received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He received his CPCU designation in 2012. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys backpacking in the great outdoors.

Melissa Wheeler is an Underwriting Manager for a mid-size insurance carrier. She was hired in 2004, shortly before graduating college with a degree in Psychology. She obtained her CPCU designation in December 2017. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys watching movies, reading, and attending concerts, as well as spending time with her friends and family.

Michael Brown is the Vice President, Property Department Manager for his company and is responsible for underwriting property and DIC / earthquake business. Michael holds a number of industry certifications and designations, some of which include CPCU, CCRA, ARe, ASLI, and ARM-E. Michael has written articles related to property catastrophe insurance for Risk Management magazine and WIN magazine, has been interviewed for articles in Insurance Business, Rough Notes, and Insurance Journal, and was named a 2016 Risk Management All-Star by Risk and Insurance magazine.
Jermaine Washington began his career in 2015 and has held positions at insurance brokerages in addition to managing general agencies. Jermaine was awarded the CPCU Designation in 2020 and also holds the AINS, AIS, PTC I, and ACSRC; in his free time he loves to read literature and compose art to be either displayed or demonstrated by performance. Jermaine is highly committed to actively participating in the Insurance industry and is an enthusiastic student of the business.

Kayda Muckey is a Sales Executive for a large Insurance Corporation. She earned her MBA in Finance in 2004 and went on to become a Personal Lines Underwriter in June of that year. She later joined her current employer in 2005 as an Underwriter and has held many roles including Marketing Specialist. She earned her CPCU designation in 2018. In her free time she enjoys traveling, skiing, biking with her family and walking her dog.

Carrie is the Senior Underwriter and Data Analytics Manager of a multi-state Workers’ Compensation Carrier. She began her career in 2001 and has held positions at agencies, MGA’s and for the last 14 years at a carrier. She is a new recipient of the CPCU and also holds a ARM (2017) and AIDA (2019) designation. She is responsible for coordinating with agency partners to write and manage business. She is also responsible for partnering with vendors and software providers to excel the company’s digital transformation. For fun she enjoys cooking, football and time with friends and family.
